Our House Building Adventure

We bought 3 acres of raw land in Wyoming... started clearing it... dug the basement... poured cement... and started framing!

This blog details our house building adventure... building our new home... ourselves!

Kitchen Update 8/2/10

Rich cut some more soapstone tonight!  2 more pieces!

Then Rich and our son Matthew (16) put the pieces in place... one on each side of our BlueStar range!

It looks so awesome!  When we treat the soapstone with mineral oil it will become almost black and show off the beautiful veining!

I love soap stone. Question, does it knick easily? I always thought it was a softer surface than say, Granite. PS, this blog is awesome! What a great way to document your house building process.

Hi Meemsnyc! Thanks for popping over to my House blog!

I am loving the soapstone... it's beautiful!

No, I don't think that it knicks easily. But it you get any scratches you just sand them out and reapply mineral oil.

We referred to the videos by Canadian Soapstone for our DIY project. http://soapstonecounters.com/Howto.htm
